We had such a nice 3-day Easter weekend!
I had Friday off from work, so I strongly “suggested” that Matt should take it off too. He was smart and obliged :) Our friends Nate and Gio came over for a fun pool day. The kiddos had a nice time swimming… Davis more so than Charlotte. She was a little confused by her floatie. She didn’t dislike it, but she didn’t like it either. She just squirmed and tried to get her legs back through the holes. Luckily we have the whole summer to get her comfortable with water.
{“Get me outta here.”}
{Who needs the pool when you have an empty snack pack and a clothespin to play with?}
{Somewhat enjoying swimming with daddy.}
I was determined to find an Easter Egg Hunt appropriate for Charlotte, so we ended up going to one at the Coronado Community Center. It was perfect! There were hunts for kids of all ages so we joined the 2 and under group (although there were definitely kids older than 2). Davis and Charlotte had a lot of fun trying to eat the eggs, putting the eggs in baskets and chatting with the other kids. This was my first experience in a “competitive” (that’s the only term I can think of…) environment with other parents. Towards the end of the hunt, Charlotte spotted this little boy that had about 10 eggs in his basket. At this point Charlotte had none because she kept taking them out and dropping them. Charlotte was trying to get an egg from the basket and the little boy kept grunting out of annoyance and moving his basket about 2″ from Charlotte each time she went in for one. His parents were sitting there just watching. I thought to myself “isn’t this just for fun? Can you please tell your child to share his eggs? We can’t keep them anyways.” Ah, I know there will be many more lovely moments like that down the road and I can’t wait (note the sarcasm).
{She figured out the whole “put the egg in the basket” real quick since putting objects into other objects is one of her favorite hobbies.}
{A little overwhelmed with all the people and activity.}
{Davis having the best time!}
{Sharing eggs like all the kids should have been doing…}
{After egg-hunt fun!}
{We went to a late lunch afterwards and she got to play with her first set of crayons. Imagine her excitement when one day she’ll realize the crayons come OUT of the plastic.}
On Sunday we hung out with some family in Del Mar for a nice Easter lunch. Unfortunately there was a pool in the yard, so we couldn’t let Charlotte just roam free and search for eggs on her own. It was still a fun time and it turns out Charlotte likes baked beans…. a lot.
{On the run!}
{She was content with her one egg.}
